Epstein Hebrew Academy

The YU School Partnership would like to extend a special kol hakavod to the Epstein Hebrew Academy of St Louis, MO for implementing some of the principles learned in the five different modules their teachers have participated in since September.

The faculty of EHA has taken full advantage of the online, asynchronous format of the modules, using the research and application pieces to expand their teacher tool boxes and expand the learning opportunities of their students.

Rabbi Avi Greene, head of school, reports that “I know that as we support each other and share successes at faculty meetings we are learning more from each other.” Shiffy Landa, a teacher at EHA shared the following: “The idea of planning lessons that include designing activities for students to engage in instead of lecturing, and the need for differentiation is engraved in the way I plan my lessons. I learned a lot from the discussions and feedback. I could take what I learned and immediately apply it in my classroom. It was nice discussing what we were learning on line and being able to have off line discussions as well with my colleagues at Epstein Hebrew Academy.

Modeling lifelong learning is taken very seriously at EHA. All teachers felt the need to grow their tool belts, become familiar with the latest research, and interact with experts in the field.

If you would like to learn more, please reach out to Melanie Eisen, assistant director of professional development.
